The fifth day~Sunny seashore trip~!!!

Great sunny day~!!!!!

The waffle in the wooden house tasted really really great~! After the very nice breakfast on the bus, we went ahead to the National Marine Museum in keelung. The weather today was extremely crystal after several rainy days, wonderful weather for coast trip but on the other side our skin was easily to be hurt by the sunshine. Idon't think I was well prepared to welcome the sunshine but the happiness of explore nature overshaded that problem.

Never had I have such a long time kept looking at the species from marine. It was not attractive to me. I tried to catch up with others though have no biology background. Exploring species new to me was a great experience, I gained so many knowledge I've never known before and also other students' passion on biology really touched me. I am very sure that they will be good future biologists because they study and do what they really want.

We took caligraphy course tonight and it was nearly more than ten years havn't I use bamboo brush, the lecturer today was funny and we all got at least one of his "masterpieces" after the class. Compared to pen and pencil, bamboo brush is more difficult to handle.

Tired and didn't go to the night market with others today.

The fourth day, began to explore the nature~!!!

Field trip began today~!!!
Our first stop was Yangmingshan National Park. We got together at 7:45am after bought some food for breakfast. To tell the truth, I am a little scared about the incoming hiking since I am the kind of person who never do any outdoor activity all my life, I really doubted about my hiking skill. It took us about one hour to got there and we stopped the bus on half of the mountain, then the hiking started.
Guided by two professors from NTU, our hiking in Yangmingshan Mountain was full of surprise and fun. Since my major is business realated and has no relationship with biology, I had little interest in the biodiversity here. But when more and more insects and plants founded, I paid an increasing interest on the trip today. I tried to connect the names and the images of what we caught today and it seemed a little difficult. I admired those who can even talked with the professors about the animals and asked questions about them, what I can do was only follow them and to be a good listener. Sometimes to be a listener was not kind of bad since I learnt a lot during the hiking.
It kept raining during the whole afternoon and my umbrella broke as well. I was my first time to wear a raincoat for such a long time~! I asked Iris for help to take me a picture about that.
Dinner was good, I tried Taiwan tofu and the famous milk tea neat NTU. It was such an exciting experience to explore the markets around NTU ~!
I bought a new umbrella, by the way.

Day 2 & Day 3, what a wonderful time in Taipei~!!!

First I have to say that the food in Taiwan is sooooooo good~!!!! We have a lot of choices and I just cannot decide which one to try~!

The lectures began from yesterday and till now we have already have five lectures. My knowledge of  biology and Taiwan grew swift after those interesting lectures.  We also went to the Gallery of NTU yesterday and I was amazed at the complicated history and the unbeliable achivements NTU has alrealy had, especially the story of the fourth president of NTU, Fu Sinian. I had limited knowledge about him before I came to Taiwan, I suddenly realized that he was not only a linguist but also an excellent educator after visiting the Gallery of NTU History.
After that we did some ground games in order to get familiar to NTU campus. Though the weather was really really hot, we still paid our full attention to them and tried our best to win.
The four crazy time at karoeke last night was what I will never forget. The KTV looked similiar to that in the mainland but since sang with different people, everything became different. I have never listened to sooooo many English songs together in one night~! The atmosphere was high and everyone felt good. We didn't stop until nearly 2:30am~! When we went back on the quiet street, only the frogs still awake with us.

Compared to the crazy life yesterday, today seemed to be a little different. It rained all day and even stopped us the way to the museum for a while. After 3 lectures we visited 2 museums in the compus and then went to eat sushi nearby. The food was fresh and we all ate a lot. I went to the Shida Night Market with sereval people after the Chinese course and the Taro Cube was really really really good~!! It was nearly 12:00pm when we took the subway and we were so lucky to take the last train.

By the way, my roommate and other guys who don't know Chinese learned some Chinese these  days. They are so hardworking and we pratised several times after the class. The way they learn is so cute and I love it a lot.

Really tired, but deserved I think.

The first day~!!!

Except the left of my luggage and the delay of my flight yesterday, it is a really wonderful beginning today~!!!

The moment we got together, we began to know each other better and better. The friendly stuff and excellent partners made the atmosphere extremely great. After the delicious breakfast with the director Dr. Lee, we visited National Taiwan Museum and Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, two of the most famous travel spots in Taipei. The weather was humid and hot, and it even rained on the half of the trip, but we were full of passion and cannot wait to explore the brand new place. The day life in Taipei is busy but orderly, and the night market culture here is very popular and the night around NTU is lively and friendly. After the orientation and the rich dinner, some of us went outside the campus and with the help of Yu-Chen Chang, the lovely girl from NTU, I visited Eslite Bookstore, the one I heard several times before I came. The environment there was comfortable and peaceful, I bought a book about excerse and hope to begin my fitness work as soon as possible.

Time flies, at the very end of the first of my BACT life in Taiwan, I have to say that it was a really really great time I will never forget!

Tianlin Fu, a UIUC student from China

My name is Tianlin Fu and I am a freshman majoring in Finance. I am from China and now study in the College of Business in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. As a student from the mainland, Taiwan is really attractive to me. I am looking forward to discover and explore the fancinating world here with people with common interests.
